Kevin Meyer was born in Greeley, Colorado, a city located in the north-central part of the state, and later attended the prestigious University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, a renowned institution for the study of film and television production.
Meyer's professional career in the film industry began in 1989 when he adapted and directed his first feature film, a cinematic interpretation of the Newberry Award-winning novel "Across Five Aprils", which was published in 1990 and received critical acclaim.
