Biography

Kent Franklin McWhirter, the son of Bert and Laura McWhirter, was born on September 26, 1942, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. From a young age, he was driven to pursue a career as a physical education instructor and football coach.

To further his education, he transferred from Citrus Junior College to the prestigious University of Southern California in 1961. It was during his time at USC that he crossed paths with the renowned musician Ricky Nelson, and the two formed a lasting bond. This chance encounter led to a series of small guest appearances on the popular television show "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," where McWhirter played the role of one of Nelson's fraternity brothers.

In 1965, McWhirter signed a contract with Universal Pictures, marking the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry. Three years later, he received his big break when Jack Webb handpicked him to co-star in the hit television series "Adam-12" in 1968. Throughout the show's run, McWhirter became an active member of the Screen Actors Guild, a commitment that has continued to this day.
