Kent Franklin McWhirter, the son of Bert and Laura McWhirter, was born on September 26, 1942, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. From a young age, he was driven to pursue a career as a physical education instructor and football coach.
To further his education, he transferred from Citrus Junior College to the prestigious University of Southern California in 1961.
