Biography

Kenneth Hawks, a younger sibling of renowned film director Howard Hawks and producer William Hawks, was born in the year 1898 in the charming town of Goshen, Indiana.

As a seasoned veteran of World War I, Kenneth served in the United States Army Air Service before pursuing higher education at the prestigious Yale University. His academic endeavors culminated in a successful graduation, which laid the groundwork for his subsequent foray into the world of filmmaking.

In 1929, Kenneth embarked on a directorial career with Fox Film Corporation, three years after his older brother Howard had begun his own directorial journey. This marked the beginning of Kenneth's illustrious career in the film industry.

In his personal life, Kenneth was married to the talented actress Mary Astor, who would later go on to win an Academy Award. Tragically, Mary was widowed following Kenneth's untimely passing.

January 2, 1930, would prove to be a fateful day for Kenneth Hawks. While directing the film Such Men are Dangerous, he and nine other crew members perished in a devastating plane collision over the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Southern California.
