Kenji Endō, a renowned singer-songwriter and musician, was born on January 13, 1947, in the erstwhile Katsuta City, Ibaraki Prefecture, which has since been merged with other municipalities to form Hitachinaka City. He was affectionately known by his friends and fans as Enken.
