Kelly McPherson, a talented individual, hails from suburban Dallas, where he spent his formative years. His academic pursuits led him to the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied film and television. Upon graduation, he relocated to Los Angeles, embarking on a professional journey that would take him to the heights of success.
Kelly's early days in the entertainment industry were marked by his association with the renowned producer, Arnold Shapiro, with whom he worked as a producer and writer. His subsequent foray into reality television laid the groundwork for his transition to writing and producing historical documentaries. Notable projects include the acclaimed mini-series "Las Vegas, Gamble in the Desert" for A&E and "The History of Sex" for History.
Kelly's remarkable career has been punctuated by numerous accolades, including a Writers Guild of America nomination for outstanding documentary writing for "Lusitania: Murder on the Atlantic" in 1998. He received a second WGA nomination for his adaptation of Joseph Ellis' Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "Founding Brothers," in 2002.
In 2006, Kelly joined Authentic Entertainment, where he served as executive producer and showrunner for six seasons on the hit Food Network series, "Ace of Cakes." The following year, he collaborated with Oscar-winning writer and producer Randall Wallace to create the Discovery special "Fight or Die," a project that saw him serve as executive producer, co-creator, and writer.
In 2008, Kelly co-founded Karga Seven Pictures with Emre Sahin and Sarah Wetherbee. Since then, he has executive produced a diverse range of series and specials for various networks, including History, Discovery, National Geographic, TLC, Travel Channel, ID, Food Network, Cooking Channel, Animal Planet, Weather Channel, and MTV.
