After completing his education in theatrical performance and creative writing at the University of the Pacific and University of Southern California, Tom Ferguson began working behind the scenes in daytime television production, occasionally taking on acting roles in local theater productions and improvisation groups. As his production career progressed, he started to pursue a career in voice-over, which ultimately led him to discover his true calling.
In 1999, Ferguson landed his first professional voice-over audition, playing a sound-alike for Keanu Reeves in a radio spot for the former Hollywood Video movie-rental franchise. He successfully booked the role, marking the beginning of his voice-over career. Ferguson officially signed with Pat Brady, his voice-over agent, who would continue to represent him for many years to come.
Ferguson's early voice-over work included roles in animation, video games, and commercial spots. One of his notable early roles was as Ray in the animated web-series "Li'l Green Men" featured on Warner Bros.' website Entertaindom. Over the next three years, he built up his voice-over repertoire with various roles, including sound-alike voice-matching for films.
In 2004, Ferguson was cast as Blooregard Q. Kazoo, also known as Bloo, in the animated series "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" created by Craig McCracken. This marked the beginning of his long-term collaboration with McCracken, who also created "The Powerpuff Girls." Ferguson's other notable roles include General Thunderbolt Ross in "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes," Friend Owl in the feature "Bambi II," and his recurring role as Harrison Ford in the animated series "Robot Chicken."
In addition to his work in animation, Ferguson has also provided voices for various commercials, including two TV spots for VitaminWater in 2008. He has continued to work on numerous animation and video game projects, as well as periodic voice-match work for other celebrities, including Keanu Reeves, Ray Romano, Will Ferrell, and many others.
