Collea's artistic journey began at the esteemed Rhode Island School of Design, where he immersed himself in the world of experimental film. This multifaceted exploration of art and discipline laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Following a four-year stint in the Marine Corps, where he honed his skills as a skilled engineer, Collea pursued higher education at the University of Kentucky, the University of Arizona, and ultimately, UCLA. This odyssey culminated in the attainment of a Master of Fine Arts degree in Drama, Dance, and Film.
During this formative period, Collea founded "Tenth St. Danceworks," a venture that catapulted him onto the global stage as a performer, choreographer, Technical Director, and filmmaker. His unique vision and talent manifested in a series of critically acclaimed films, including "Long Story Short," "L'Anniversaire," and "Visual Feets." Collea's exceptional work as a producer, director, and editor earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Cine Golden Eagle and the Significant American Short award from the Mill Valley Film Festival. Furthermore, his films garnered recognition as finalists in various esteemed film competitions, solidifying his reputation as a talented and accomplished filmmaker.
