Katia Pantazi, a multifaceted individual born in 1976 in Athens, Greece, has led a life marked by a rich cultural heritage and a passion for the arts. She began her academic journey by obtaining a Bachelor of Studies in Greek Civilization from the Hellenic Open University, a testament to her deep roots in Greek culture. Additionally, she honed her musical skills at the Hellenic Conservatory of Music & Arts, where she earned degrees in Piano, Harmony, and Counterpoint.
As a polyglot, Katia is fluent in Greek and English, with a fair grasp of Italian and Spanish. Prior to entering the film industry, she spent thirteen years as a piano teacher, imparting her knowledge to private students, and as an accompanist at a ballet school from 1996 to 2009. This experience not only refined her pedagogical skills but also allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of the performing arts.
Since 2009, Katia has worked on various projects with Greek and international production companies, showcasing her versatility and adaptability in the industry. Her membership in the team of curators for the Delhi International Film Festival since 2013 has provided her with a platform to connect with filmmakers from around the world.
Throughout her career, Katia has collaborated with renowned film directors, including Manuel de Coco, with whom she has enjoyed a long-term partnership since 2011. Her first feature film as a producer, "Unknown Land" (2012),has garnered international recognition, being selected at numerous festivals worldwide, including Cairo IFF, Sao Paulo IFF, Andrei Tarkovsky IFF, and Film Festival Cologne, and winning several awards. However, it's worth noting that the film has been banned in many countries of the Arab world.
Katia's second film, "Invisible World" (2023),was shot on location in Tibet, Mongolia, Russia, Italy, Vatican City, Greece, Israel, and Palestine, showcasing her ability to navigate complex logistical challenges. Her commitment to balancing artistic vision with commercial viability has led her to work with younger generations of directors.
