Biography

Kathryn, a remarkably gifted painter, embarked on a two-year artistic journey at the esteemed San Francisco Art Institute. Her exceptional talent and dedication were soon recognized, as she was awarded a prestigious scholarship to the Whitney Museum's Independent Study Program at the tender age of 20.

This remarkable opportunity granted her access to a unique studio space, nestled in a former Offtrack Betting building, which was once an old bank vault. Here, she spent her days creating art, awaiting the critiques of renowned artists and intellectuals, including the likes of Richard Serra, Robert Rauschenberg, and Susan Sontag.

Kathryn's artistic pursuits continued to flourish, as she later earned a scholarship to study film at the renowned Columbia University School of Arts, graduating in 1979. Her impressive academic achievements were accompanied by her membership in the influential British avant-garde cultural group, Art and Language.

Born to a family of creatives, Kathryn is the only child of a paint factory manager and a librarian, whose supportive environment likely fostered her artistic inclinations from a young age.
