Kathryn Apanowicz, a talented British actress, was born in Pudsey, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. She gained recognition for her appearances in several popular BBC soap operas, including Angels, where she portrayed the character of Nurse Rose Butchins, and EastEnders, where she played the role of caterer Magda Czajkowski.
In addition to her work in television, Apanowicz also had minor roles in Emmerdale Farm and Coronation Street, and as a child, she appeared in the film Bugsy Malone. Prior to her television career, she worked in children's programs for Yorkshire Television alongside Mark Curry.
In the early 1990s, Apanowicz presented the talk-based magazine program Afternoon Live for Wire TV, a cable channel. In 2000, she became a regular presenter on ITV's daytime magazine show for women, Live Talk. Furthermore, she was a presenter for BBC Radio Leeds and a guest presenter for BBC Radio York.
Kathryn Apanowicz was in a long-term relationship with Countdown host Richard Whiteley from 1994 to 2005. After his passing, she published a biography titled Richard by Kathryn, which showcased her life with Whiteley. In a touching gesture, Apanowicz donated three pairs of Whiteley's spectacles to Vision Aid Overseas (VAO),an optical charity. The charity sent the spectacles to Ethiopia, where they were fitted to three locals with the same prescription. The BBC featured this heartwarming story on their Inside Out program, which aired on September 19, 2007.
