Biography

Kate Micucci was born in New Jersey, a state known for its rich history and natural beauty, and spent the majority of her childhood and school years in Pennsylvania, a state renowned for its diverse landscapes and vibrant cities.

As a kid, Kate was fascinated by the great outdoors and spent countless hours playing in the woods, exploring the wonders of nature, and developing her artistic skills through classical piano. Her passion for the arts only grew stronger as she entered college, where she majored in art, focusing on painting and the art of puppetry.

After receiving an Associate's degree in Fine Arts from Keystone College, Kate decided to take a break from her academic pursuits and embark on a unique adventure, tending to banana and pineapple plants in Hawaii. However, her love for the arts eventually drew her back to the mainland, where she enrolled at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, a city famous for its rich cultural heritage and thriving arts scene.

At Loyola Marymount, Kate continued to hone her skills as a visual artist, majoring in Studio Art and creating even more elaborate puppets. She eventually earned a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and began to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry, both as an actor and a musician.

Since 2008, Kate has made Los Angeles her home, where she has developed a steady gig building intricate sandcastles, a testament to her creativity and attention to detail. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Kate has also worked as an actor, frequently playing the ukulele around town and showcasing her musical talents.

Kate is perhaps best known for her work as the co-creator and co-star of the comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates, which she formed with fellow comedian Riki Lindhome. The duo's unique blend of humor and music quickly gained popularity, earning them a spot on Variety's list of Comics to Watch in 2010. Their two-woman show regularly sold out at various venues, including Largo, UCB, Meltdown, and Super Serious Show.

In addition to their live performances, Kate and Riki co-created, wrote, and starred in the IFC series Garfunkel and Oates, which premiered to widespread critical acclaim and became IFC's third-highest-rated series premiere in the network's history.

Beyond her work with Garfunkel and Oates, Kate has also made significant contributions to the world of music, penning songs for various films and television shows, including Universal's "Search Party," Paramount's "SpongeBob SquarePants" animated feature, and "The Big Bang Theory." She has also appeared in the film "When in Rome" and has a recurring role on the television show Raising Hope.

Most recently, Kate wrapped filming the lead role in "Unleashed," directed by Finn Taylor, and appeared in Mike Birbiglia's "Don't Think Twice," which premiered at SXSW. She also starred in the Joe Swanberg anthology series "Easy" for Netflix and Jeff Baena's new film "The Little Hours," which premiered at Sundance.
