Kenny Snyder, a veteran writer and emerging director, is making waves in the entertainment industry.
Born in Hampton, Virginia, Kenny grew up in a household where his father, a Master Sergeant, and mother, a homemaker and staff administrator, instilled in him a strong sense of resilience and determination. The Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, and the music of Earth, Wind & Fire and George Clinton all had a profound impact on Kenny's early life.
Kenny's athletic and academic talents earned him a spot on the tennis team and the elite jazz band in high school, and he later majored in Theatre Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University. After college, he joined his cousin Will Smith's rap group, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, as an assistant and manager, which proved to be a gateway to the industry.
Kenny's experiences in the music industry, including touring with the group and producing his own demos, led him to move to Hollywood in 1990. He eventually applied his songwriting skills to television, becoming a Writer's Trainee on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where he learned the ins and outs of TV production.
As a free-lance writer, Kenny contributed to various projects, including a pilot for Jamie Foxx and a feature screenplay, Unfinished. He also worked as a Pilot and Script Consultant on the Fox sitcom Between Brothers and donated his time to The New Leaders, a leading black civic and citizenship organization in Los Angeles.
In 1997, Kenny joined The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show as Keenen-Ivory Wayans' Head Monologue Writer, where he honed his directing skills and wrote and directed comedy sketches. After stints on BET's Comic View and MTV's Lyricists Lounge Show, Kenny focused on his film career, writing the feature comedy Broz & Arrows and the drama The Life He Chose, starring "The Game."
With full rights to his comedy feature screenplay Broz and Arrows, Kenny is poised to take the helm of his projects and join the ranks of top Writer-Director-Storytellers in the industry.
