Jürg Neuenschwander is a renowned Swiss documentary film director, film producer, and founding member of Container TV, AG for Film and Television Production, established in 1978. Besides his work in film production, he is also a media consultant, expert in film studies, and researcher in interactive human-centered design. With extensive international experience, he is currently based in Shanghai, Paris, and Bern.
As a pioneer in innovative storytelling, Jürg is fascinated by creative documentaries, expanded cinema, and large-scale artistic works. He continually explores new narrative forms that challenge digitization, the Internet, and other technological advancements, such as virtual and augmented reality, 360° video, web-doc, and social media.
In 2016, the Chinese Government Recruitment Program of Global Experts appointed Jürg as an Overseas High-Level Talent National Chair Professor at the College of Arts and Media at Tongji University (part-time),focusing on interactive multi-platform storytelling with analogue and digital media.
As a director, Jürg has gained recognition for his feature-length documentaries, including Shigatse - One Injection asks for more, Sooner or Later, The Power of Healing, and Encounters on the Milky Way, which was invited to over 50 film festivals worldwide. His film, The Chinese Recipe: Bold and Smart, premiered at the 2016 Solothurner Filmtage festival in Switzerland and opened in China at the 2016 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival. His latest film, Simply Different, is set to be released in theaters in 2017.
