Julie's childhood was spent on the prestigious Upper West Side of Manhattan, a neighborhood renowned for its cultural and artistic richness. Her father, Neil Warner, was a talented musical arranger, whose expertise extended to crafting catchy jingles for prominent brands such as Tic-Tacs and Fig Newtons. Her mother, Naomi, was a freelance book agent, showcasing her versatility and entrepreneurial spirit.
Julie's family dynamics were further enriched by her younger brother, James, who currently works for the New York City Parks Department, contributing to the city's green spaces and recreational areas. At the tender age of 12, Julie embarked on an extraordinary educational journey at the exclusive Dalton School, where she formed a lasting bond with fellow student and future actress, Mary Stuart Masterson.
This experience led to an unexpected turn of events, as an agent encouraged Julie to audition for the movie Pretty Baby (1978). Although she didn't secure the role, this opportunity paved the way for her to land a part on the long-running soap opera Guiding Light (1952). Julie's academic pursuits took her to Brown University, where she majored in theatre arts and graduated in 1987.
After university, Julie relocated to Los Angeles, where she worked as a waitress while diligently pursuing her acting career. Her perseverance paid off, as she eventually tied the knot with writer-director Jonathan Prince in 1995, marking a significant milestone in her personal and professional life.
