Biography

Julie Bishop, a renowned leading lady, was born in Colorado and also acted under the names Jacqueline Wells and Diane Duval. Initially, she began her career as a silent movie child actress, working alongside legendary stars such as Clara Bow and Mary Pickford.

As the daughter of a wealthy banker and oilman, Julie was raised in Texas and later Los Angeles after her parents' divorce. She was signed by Warner Bros in 1940 and went on to play the role of a sweet and dutiful girlfriend opposite top male stars, including Errol Flynn in Northern Pursuit, Humphrey Bogart in Action in the North Atlantic, John Wayne in Sands of Iwo Jima and The High and the Mighty, and Alan Ladd in The Big Land.

However, throughout her career, Julie was never given the opportunity to take on challenging roles that would have propelled her to become a top-flight star. Despite this, she did appear on stage in productions of Hamlet and The Merchant of Venice.

In her post-career years, Julie was a licensed private pilot and an avid painter, staging several exhibitions of her still-life artwork. She passed away at the age of 87 on her birthday.
