Julie Ann Serrano is a multifaceted Australian comedic actress, host, and producer who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
Born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, Serrano's passion for the performing arts began at the tender age of 10. She spent her childhood and adolescence attending singing, dancing, and acting classes, as well as performing at events and shows across her hometown and competing in dance competitions around Australia.
Her dedication to her craft led her to attend weekly private vocal lessons at Paradise Church, where popular singer Guy Sebastian began his musical career. At age 18, she was accepted into the Dance Performance Diploma course at the Dance Factory in Melbourne, where she trained with exceptional choreographers in jazz, contemporary, ballet, and hip-hop.
While studying dance, Serrano also completed on-camera acting studies at the Victorian College of the Arts. She went on to film a few episodes of Rebel Wilson's "Bogan Pride" and later traveled to Europe, where she briefly lived in London and auditioned for musicals, live shows, and television.
However, it was Los Angeles that ultimately won her heart, and at age 21, she won a full talent scholarship to the New York Film Academy. While studying acting full-time, Serrano worked as a print model and corporate spokesmodel, and she also decided to try her hand at stand-up comedy.
She has since performed at renowned comedy clubs such as Gotham Comedy Club in New York, Comedy Store in Los Angeles, and the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas. Her training has taken her to some of the best institutions in the business, including Lesly Kahn, Killian's Commercial Workshop, Groundlings, and Judy Kain.
In addition to her comedy career, Serrano has appeared in several TV shows, including House, The Raw Word, Celebrities Undercover, Drug Lords, Real Housewives of Orange County, and Un Nuevo Dia (Telemundo).
What sets Serrano apart is her deep love and appreciation for Latin culture, which has inspired her to learn salsa and bachata dancing, teach herself to speak Spanish, and even perform at the Los Angeles Bachata Festival in 2019. She was also a strong contender for a Spanish T-Mobile Ad, where she got to dance to one of her favorite reggaeton artists, J Balvin.
