Biography

Person Biography:

Julie Adams was born Betty May Adams in Arkansas to a family with a history of drinking. Despite this, she developed a passion for acting from a young age and made her stage debut in a third-grade production of "Hansel and Gretel". After high school, she moved to California to pursue her dreams, taking speech and drama lessons and working as a secretary to make ends meet.

Her big break came when she was cast as a starlet in the 1949 film "Red, Hot and Blue". She went on to appear in several other films, including "The Dalton Gang" and "Bright Victory", before being cast as the leading lady in the 1952 western "Bend of the River" alongside James Stewart.

Adams' career was marked by a series of typecast roles as a western heroine, often opposite major stars such as Rock Hudson, Tyrone Power, and Glenn Ford. She also appeared in a number of films that showcased her physical charms, including the cult classic "Creature from the Black Lagoon".

In the 1950s, Adams changed her name to Julie and began to take on more varied roles, including tough melodramas, comedies, and romantic comedies. She continued to work in film and television throughout her career, appearing in a wide range of genres and series, including "Perry Mason", "Murder, She Wrote", and "The Twilight Zone".

Adams was married twice and had a son, Mitchell Danton. She passed away in 2019 at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and enduring Hollywood actress.
