Julian Curtis, a talented individual with a rich background in the performing arts. He graduated from the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 2008 and has since made a name for himself in the Australian theatre scene.
In 2017, Curtis won a Matilda Award for his outstanding performance in "True West" at the Brisbane Powerhouse. He has had the privilege of working with numerous esteemed companies, including the Queensland Theatre Company, LaBoite Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Riverside Theatres, Metro Arts, Shake + Stir, Siren Theatre Company, Darlinghurst Theatre Company, Queensland Arts Council, and Pinchgut Opera.
Curtis's work has not only been recognized in the theatre world but also in television and film. In 2016, the University of Queensland funded him to write his first play, which has since attracted further funding through Playwriting Australia. His writing talent has also been showcased in his self-written web series, which was a finalist at the Just for Laughs Montreal 2013 festival.
In addition to his writing and acting credits, Curtis has appeared in numerous television shows, including "Dance Academy", "East West 101", "Legend of the Seeker", "Adam Ruins Everything", and "Acting Out" for MTV. His film credits include "Captured", "Twister Warning", "The Duelist" for Jim Henson Studio, and "The Middle" opposite some of the biggest names in music.
Curtis has also been involved in various film shorts funded through Screen Australia, including "Power the Kid", which he wrote. Some of his notable film credits include "Dance Me to the End", which was selected for the Sydney Film Festival, and "Neon King", which took top awards at the Byron Bay Film Festival in 2016. Most recently, he wrapped principal photography as the title role in the film "Poster Boy".
