Biography

Julia Sawalha, a talented actress, was born in the vibrant city of London, where she would later go on to make a name for herself in the acting world.

Her impressive career began with a starring role as Lynda Day in the critically acclaimed drama series Press Gang, which premiered in 1989 and earned her a prestigious BAFTA award for Best Drama Series.

Sawalha's versatility as an actress was showcased in her portrayal of Saffy in the popular sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, which debuted in 1992 and earned her the RTS award for Best Actress.

In 1995, she took on the iconic role of Lydia Bennett in the miniseries adaptation of Jane Austen's timeless classic Pride and Prejudice.

A decade later, Sawalha appeared as Dorcas Lane in the BBC's beloved costume drama Lark Rise to Candleford, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the RTS Awards.

In addition to her work in television, Sawalha has also lent her voice to the character Ginger in Aardman's Oscar-nominated feature film Chicken Run, which holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film in history.

Currently, Sawalha is working on two projects for mainstream television, both of which are slated for release in 2024.
