Julia Loktev, a talented and accomplished director and editor, was brought into this world on December 12, 1969, in the city of Leningrad, which was then a part of the Russian SFSR, a Soviet Socialist Federative Republic within the vast and complex USSR. Today, this historic city is known as St. Petersburg, Russia, a place where Loktev would later draw inspiration from in her work.
Loktev's professional career has been marked by a series of critically acclaimed projects, including the thought-provoking and visually stunning films "Day Night Day Night" (2006),"The Loneliest Planet" (2011),and the gripping and intense "Moment of Impact" (1998).
