Andrea Velasco, a talented Chilean actress, was born on May 15, 1986, and spent her childhood and youth in Cachagua, a rural town along the Pacific coastline of Central Chile. She remained in this picturesque setting until completing her education, after which she followed her passion for acting to Santiago, the capital city, and enrolled in the prestigious Universidad Catolica's Acting School.
Velasco's thirst for exploring non-conventional theatre led her to live at the Double Edge Theatre in Ashfield, Massachusetts, for three months, and later participate in workshops at the Odin Theater in Denmark and the "Teatro de los Sentidos" in Malacahuello.
Throughout her career, Velasco has demonstrated her versatility by taking on leading roles in various mediums, including movies, theatre, television, and web productions. Some of her notable performances include her roles in the TV serial "Bim Bam Bum", the movie "La Tirana", and the musical "The Beauty and the Beast", among others.
In addition to her acting career, Velasco has also made a name for herself as a director and producer, with notable projects such as the Theatre Workshop for Convicts, the cultural TV show "Carnaval", and a documentary on the making of Matías Oviedo music band's fourth album.
Since 2013, Velasco has also pursued a career as a singer, interpreting parts of the musical soundtrack for the TV series "Bim Bam Bum", the TV serial "Chipe Libre", and becoming the female voice on Matías Oviedo's latest album, "Amores Tuertos".
After establishing a solid career in Chile, Velasco was cast in over 8 TV shows for major networks, over 7 films, theatre pieces, web series, and secured several contracts with recognized brands. In May 2016, she relocated to Los Angeles, California, and made her debut as the lead actress in Ryan Gregory Phillip's Shortwave, earning her the Best Actress prize at Film-Quest.
A nature lover, Velasco has been actively involved in several environmental causes, collaborating with organizations such as "Reforestemos Patagonia", Moving Chile, and the "Bosques de Zapallar" (Woodland's Foundation),a NGO based in her hometown, which works towards the conservation of the endangered Mediterranean-like forest of central Chile.
