Juan Zapata, a multifaceted creative force, hails from Medellin, Colombia, and has made the United States his adopted home.
His academic journey took him to Cuba, where he pursued studies in directing and screenwriting at the prestigious Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV) from 2001 to 2003.
Prior to his directorial endeavors, Zapata spent 12 formative years in Brazil, where he immersed himself in the vibrant cultural landscape.
In 2014, he was appointed as the Director of the Film Institute of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (IECINE) in Southern Brazil, further solidifying his connection to the region.
Throughout his illustrious career, Zapata has garnered recognition for his work on a range of projects, including the critically acclaimed films Another Forever (2016),Simone (2013),Fidelidad (2004),and A Dança da Vida (2007).
