Born on February 11, 1926, in Yonghung, Hamkyongnam-do, which is currently situated in North Korea, Ju's early life was marked by a deep passion for the performing arts. During her attendance at Hamnam Girls' High School, she developed a profound appreciation for plays and drama.
As she approached the age of eighteen, Ju made the bold decision to leave her home and join the esteemed theater company, Gohyeop. This marked the beginning of her illustrious acting career, with her first role being that of a maid in the production of Muyeongtap, a masterpiece written by the acclaimed Yu Chi-jin.
