Soo-Young Park, professionally known as Joy, was born on September 3, 1996, on the picturesque Jeju Island in South Korea. Her journey in the entertainment industry began when she enrolled in the prestigious Seoul School of Performing Arts, laying the foundation for her future success.

In 2012, Soo-Young joined SM Entertainment as a trainee, where she was gifted the stage name Joy. This marked the beginning of her rise to fame, as she was soon to become a prominent figure in the K-pop scene.

In 2014, Joy made her debut as a member of the world-renowned K-pop girl group Red Velvet, which has consistently topped the charts and broken records worldwide, according to Billboard and Time magazine. Alongside her group activities, Joy has also pursued a successful acting career.
