Josh MacDonald is a multi-talented individual, boasting a remarkable career as an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, and actor.
As a screenwriter, he has made a significant impact with his feature films, including "The Corridor" and "Faith, Fraud & Minimum Wage". The former won the Next Wave Award for Best Screenplay at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, while the latter is an adaptation of his stage play "Halo", which has been widely acclaimed and produced by theatre companies across North America.
"Halo" has undergone six printings and has been published by Talonbooks, with its curriculum titles being taught in high schools and universities across Canada. Josh has also received the Tom Hendry Prize from the Playwrights Guild of Canada for his adaptation of #IAmTheCheese, Robert Cormier's classic novel for young adults. The play has won numerous awards, including Outstanding Adaptation at the Theatre Nova Scotia Merritt Awards.
As a writer-director, Josh has made a mark with his short horror film "Game", which has garnered international recognition, being selected as a "Vimeo Staff Pick" and a "Short of the Week", and acquiring over a million views online. Another short film, "Little Grey Bubbles", which Josh co-produced and co-starred in, was selected to debut at the SXSW Festival and has also garnered a million views online.
Josh has also ventured into episodic television, working with the National Film Board, the Smithsonian Channel, Reelz, CBC TV & Radio, Blue Ant, and Vision TV. He is an instructor at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) and has taught playwriting at the Fountain School of Performing Arts (Dalhousie University).
