Biography

As a young child, she had the opportunity to study at the prestigious Cornish School in Seattle, setting the stage for a lifelong passion for the performing arts.

After several years of honing her craft in New York's stock theater scene, she joined the esteemed Civic Repertory Theater under the guidance of the renowned Eva Le Gallienne, where she received widespread critical acclaim for her captivating portrayal of the title role in "Alice in Wonderland".

By the time she was in her early twenties, she had already established herself as a talented young actress, and in 1934, she made the bold decision to relocate to Hollywood, signing a contract with Warner Bros. studios.

Her big-screen debut came in 1934 with the film "Happiness Ahead", and she went on to co-star with the legendary Paul Muni in the 1936 historical drama "The Story of Louis Pasteur". Throughout her long and illustrious career, she appeared in numerous small but memorable roles in both films and television shows, including the iconic "North by Northwest" (1959),"The Twilight Zone" (1959),"Gunsmoke" (1955),and "Perry Mason" (1957).

Tragically, her remarkable life came to a close at the age of 94, surrounded by the comforts of Manhattan's Florence Nightingale Nursing Home.
