Biography

Jordan Tannahill is a Canadian author, playwright, and filmmaker who currently resides in London. As a filmmaker, his short films, including Swim (2011),Father (2014),and Draw Me Close (2019),have garnered significant attention and been showcased at prominent festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival, and the Tribeca Film Festival.

Tannahill's literary works have been translated into a dozen languages and have received numerous accolades, including two Governor General's Literary Awards, which is Canada's highest literary honor. His debut novel, Liminal, was awarded the 2021 Prix des jeunes libraires in France, while his second novel, The Listeners, became a Canadian bestseller and was shortlisted for the 2021 Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Tannahill has been praised by various publications, with Libération describing him as "the enfant terrible of Canadian Theatre," The Montreal Gazette labeling him "the hottest name in Canadian theatre," and The Toronto Star recognizing him as "one of Canada's most accomplished young playwrights, filmmakers, and multidisciplinary artists." In 2019, CBC Arts included Tannahill in a list of sixty-nine LGBTQ Canadians who have significantly contributed to the country's history.

Tannahill's plays, performance texts, and productions have been presented at various esteemed venues, including The Young Vic Theatre in London, Sadler's Wells in London, Festival d'Avignon in Avignon, The Kitchen in New York City, The Lincoln Centre in New York City, The Deutsches Theater in Berlin, The Volkstheater in Vienna, Canadian Stage in Toronto, Festival TransAmériques in Montreal, and on London's West End.
