Biography

Jordan Peele is a multifaceted creative force who has made a significant impact in the film and television industry. As an Oscar- and Emmy-winning director, writer, actor, producer, and founder of Monkeypaw Productions, he has consistently pushed boundaries and broken records.

Peele's feature film debut, "Get Out," was a groundbreaking success, earning widespread critical acclaim and four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. His original screenplay for the film earned him the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. This was followed by "Us," which shattered box-office records and became the biggest opening for an R-rated original film in history when it was released in March 2019.

Peele's third feature, the original horror epic "Nope," opened in the summer of 2022 to rave reviews and debuted at the No. 1 slot at the box office, cementing his status as a master of the horror genre. In addition to his work in film, Peele has also ventured into animation, producing and co-writing the stop-motion animated feature "Wendell & Wild," in which he also lent his voice as one of the title characters.

Under the Monkeypaw banner, Peele has also produced and co-written other notable films, including Nia DaCosta's "Candyman," which made history as the first film helmed by a Black woman director to open at No. 1 at the box office. He also produced Spike Lee's "BlacKkKlansman," which earned a nomination for Best Picture and won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Peele has also made a significant impact in television, serving as executive producer for numerous series, including "Hunters" on Amazon, "Lovecraft Country" on HBO, and "The Twilight Zone" on CBS. Prior to his success as a filmmaker, Peele was a celebrated comedian who co-starred and co-created the popular Comedy Central series "Key & Peele."
