Jonathan's career in the film industry began with his groundbreaking work on the music videos for Radiohead's "Street Spirit" and Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity", which earned numerous MTV awards.
In 1999, he directed the highly acclaimed Guinness commercial "Surfer", which received widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards, including two D&AD Black Pencils and top honors at various festivals that year. The commercial is still widely regarded as one of the best of all time.
Throughout his career, Jonathan has directed iconic commercials for a wide range of brands, including Stella Artois, Levis, Nike, Sony, Volkswagen, Channel 4, Wrangler, Apple, and many others. His work for Alexander McQueen even won a Grand Prix at the Ciclope Festival in Berlin.
In addition to his commercial work, Jonathan has also made a name for himself in the film industry. His 2000 film "Sexy Beast" was nominated for Best British Film by BAFTA, and his 2004 film "Birth" starred Nicole Kidman and Lauren Bacall. His 2014 film "Under The Skin", an adaptation of Michel Faber's novel, received two BAFTA nominations and was widely praised for its innovative storytelling and filmmaking techniques.
More recently, Jonathan has directed a number of projects for the BBC, including the 2019 short film "The Fall", which was influenced by Goya's painting "The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters" and a photograph of Donald Trump's sons posing with a dead leopard. He has also collaborated on the 2020 film "Strasbourg 1518", a unique project created during the Covid pandemic and inspired by a mysterious plague that struck the city of Strasbourg in the 16th century, causing its inhabitants to dance until they died.
