Jonathan de la Luz has been a stalwart presence in the motion picture industry for over three decades, showcasing his versatility as a writer-producer and production/financial consultant, working with a diverse range of studios and independent production companies.
His impressive resume boasts a wealth of experience, including producing his first film, the cult classic "Meet the Hollowheads" (also known as "Life on the Edge") in 1989. Directed by the legendary Tom Berman, known for his work on "The Goonies", this film marked the beginning of Jonathan's illustrious career.
In 2000, Jonathan took the entrepreneurial route, founding Azisa Pictures, a company that leveraged cutting-edge digital technologies to create high-quality independent films, utilizing a vast array of locations. As he so aptly puts it, "the whole world is our back-lot".
One of Azisa Pictures' notable productions was "The Hunt", which Jonathan co-wrote the story and screenplay for, as well as co-producing. Released by Image Entertainment, the film was directed by Fritz Kiersch, known for his work on "Children of the Corn", and executive produced by Gray Frederickson, an Oscar winner for Best Picture for "The Godfather II", and John Simonelli, a successful business entrepreneur.
Jonathan's creative talents also extend to the realm of screenwriting, as he penned the screenplay, produced, and directed the follow-up production, "Agenda", a unique contemporary feature film noir murder-mystery-thriller. Both "The Hunt" and "Agenda" received several awards, solidifying Jonathan's reputation as a talented and versatile filmmaker.
In 2009, Jonathan founded luzworks, a new production studio, and in 2011, he established luzworksMEDIA, a digital distribution company that re-purposes movie and television content for the Internet. In 2014, he produced "Harbinger", a contemporary fairytale directed by Cody Duckworth, who also wrote the original screenplay.
Throughout his illustrious career, Jonathan has been a member of several esteemed organizations, including the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Los Angeles, Austin Film Society, and National Association of Latino Independent Producers.
