Jonas Odell is a multifaceted filmmaker renowned for his innovative approach to combining live action and mixed media animation techniques in his productions. Not only does he excel in scripting, co-scripting, and composing music for various projects, but he also explores the intersection of documentary, staged, and animated elements in some of his recent short films.
As one of the co-founders of the Stockholm-based animation studio "FilmTecknarna", Jonas has had the opportunity to create a wide range of short films, commissioned work, and commercials through the studio and later as a freelance director.
Throughout his career, Jonas has received numerous accolades for his work. His short film "Never Like The First Time!" took home the Golden Bear for best short film at the Berlin Film Festival in 2006, while his short "Lies" won the award for Best International Short at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009. Additionally, three of his short films have been honored with the prestigious "Guldbagge" award, Sweden's highest film honor.
Beyond his work in short films, Jonas has also directed music videos for a diverse range of artists, including The Rolling Stones, Goldfrapp, U2, and Franz Ferdinand. His work on Franz Ferdinand's music video earned him an award for Breakthrough Video of the Year at the MTV Music Awards in 2004, as well as a Grammy nomination.
Jonas has also had the opportunity to work with numerous international clients on commercial projects, including BMW, Volvo, McDonald's, IKEA, and Google.
