Biography

Jonas Chernick, a talented individual, co-wrote, produced, and starred in the science fiction comedy feature film James vs. His Future Self (2019),which garnered four awards at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival and received four nominations for Canadian Screen Awards.

In the same year, he took on the role of a lifetime in the film adaptation of Philip Roth's novel, The Prague Orgy (2019),and had a recurring role on the hit CBC/Netflix series Workin' Moms (2017),as well as a guest appearance on the CTV/NBC series Transplant (2020).

Chernick's impressive body of work also includes the writing, producing, and starring in the film Borealis (2015),which won accolades at the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Canadian Film Fest, and was named the Opening Night Film of the Brooklyn Film Festival. The film received a nomination for a Canadian Screen Award.

Furthermore, he co-wrote, produced, and starred in An Awkward Sexual Adventure (2012),which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was subsequently named one of TIFF's Top Ten Films of 2012. The film went on to win awards at the Calgary International Film Festival, the Whistler Film Festival, and the Canadian Comedy Awards, and Chernick received a nomination for an ACTRA Award for Outstanding Male Performance.

Chernick's impressive list of credits also includes his portrayal of Daniel Addison on the CBC's critically acclaimed The Best Laid Plans (2014),for which he won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Performance in a Mini-Series.

In addition, he co-wrote and starred in the feature film Lucid (2005),which premiered at TIFF and won the City TV Award for Best Western Canadian Feature Film at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Chernick's work on the hit CBC drama series The Border (2008) earned him a Gemini Award and an ACTRA Award nomination.

His recent roles include the feature films How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town (2015),A Swingers Weekend (2017),Blood Pressure (2012),and the upcoming Cinema of Sleep (2021),as well as appearances on TV's Fargo (2014),Private Eyes (2016),Covert Affairs (2010),and Dark Matter (2015).
