Noted American trumpeter, composer, and author, renowned for crafting a distinctive style of music that seamlessly blends the ancient and the digital, the Eastern and the Western, and the composed and the improvised. This innovative approach, dubbed Fourth World, is a testament to his boundless creativity and his relentless pursuit of musical innovation.
With a strong foundation in composition studies and university degrees from the United States, he ventured to Europe to further hone his skills in electronic and serial music under the tutelage of the esteemed Karlheinz Stockhausen. Following several years of study, he returned to New York, where he collaborated with the minimalist masters La Monte Young and Terry Riley, marking the beginning of his fruitful musical journey.
Through these collaborations, he had the privilege of meeting the illustrious Hindustani raga master, Pandit Pran Nath, and embarked on a lifelong quest to reinterpret and reimagine his teacher's Kirana vocal mastery for the trumpet. This endeavour not only deepened his understanding of the instrument but also enabled him to develop a unique trumpet sound and style that continues to captivate audiences to this day.
