Jon-Erik Hexum was a young American actor of Norwegian descent who was born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey. His parents, Thorleif Hexum and Gretha Paulsen, instilled in him a love for music, and he was a talented student who played the horn, violin, and piano. Hexum attended Case Western Reserve University and later transferred to Michigan State University, where he studied bio-medical engineering and philosophy. He was also an athlete, playing football and DJing at local radio stations under the name "Yukon Jack."
