Biography

Jorge, a first-generation Cuban American, was born and raised in the vibrant city of Miami, where he was affectionately known as "Jokes" due to his early days as a graffiti artist. However, he eventually traded in his spray can for a camera, and his journey as a filmmaker began.

Jokes' breakthrough came as the creative director of The Roof, a prime-time Latin Urban music show on Telemundo's MUN2. He made history by being the first person to program Reggaeton on US television. This success led to him dominating the music scene in the early 2000s, directing music videos for prominent artists such as T-Pain, Plies, Mike Jones, and Slim Thug.

Jokes' work didn't go unnoticed, and he directed one of YouTube's first viral videos, Ground Hog Day by Mayday Ft. CeeLo Green. He followed this up with the crossover hit Lean like a Cholo. In 2009, Jokes won an Emmy for editing the first American-style mini-series for Spanish television, Gabriel: Amor Immortal.

After making a name for himself in music and television, Jokes shifted his focus to narrative film. He directed his first feature, Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, which premiered at the Miami Film Festival and received worldwide distribution. He has also developed a impressive repertoire of short films that have been consistently featured at film festivals, earning him numerous prestigious awards.

In 2013, Jokes began working with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation to create philanthropic film projects focused on addiction. Since then, he has directed and produced a wide range of projects for clients such as HBO, Complex, Universal Music, Atlantic Records, and Rolling Loud.

Throughout his career, Jokes has established himself as a talented and versatile filmmaker, with a passion for storytelling and a dedication to his craft. His journey is a testament to the power of creativity and perseverance, and he continues to inspire and entertain audiences around the world.
