John Thomas Squire, a renowned musician, spent his formative years residing on Sylvan Avenue in Sale, Manchester, England, a street that also served as the childhood home of the Bee Gees' Gibb brothers, a full two decades prior.
During his early career, Squire worked as an animator at Cosgrove Hall, a studio responsible for creating beloved animated series such as Wind in the Willows and Dangermouse. This creative background likely influenced his later musical endeavors.
In the early 1980s, Squire was involved in several abortive band projects, but he eventually teamed up with his school friend Ian Brown, who would go on to become the lead vocalist of the iconic band, in 1984. The embryonic Stone Roses made their first performances in Sweden that year.
