John's journey to stardom began at the tender age of 10, when he first stepped onto the stage in his hometown of Northport, New York. With an unrelenting passion for the craft, he has never looked back since.

His feature film debut, "Who'd the man?", was directed by the illustrious Ted Demme, with whom he collaborated on another project, "The Ref", alongside esteemed actresses Glynis Johns and Judy Davis. This marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career, with notable roles in films such as Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds", where he played the doomed Ferry Captain, and Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman".

Television has also been a significant platform for John, with numerous appearances in shows like "Murphy Brown", where he starred alongside the legendary Elizabeth Taylor in an episode titled "Trick or Retreat". He also held a series regular role as Ken 'Lou' Shea in "Rescue Me".

One of his most notable and beloved roles is that of Nicky, a gangster with a heart of gold, which he played for several years on the acclaimed series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel".
