John Ridley is the accomplished author of seven published novels, with his most recent works being "What Fire Cannot Burn" from Warner Books and "The Drift" from Knopf. Notably, his first novel, "Stray Dogs", was adapted into the feature film "U Turn" in 1997, directed by Oliver Stone and starring Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez, and Nick Nolte.
Ridley's impressive repertoire also includes screenplays for the films "Undercover Brother" (2002) and "Cold Around the Heart" (1997),as well as the story for "Three Kings" (1999). His talents extend to the stage as well, with the world premiere of his first play, "Ten Thousand Years", in 2005.
Moreover, Ridley has established himself as a respected commentator for National Public Radio and a regular contributor to the award-winning news magazine "California Connected" (2002),which airs on 12 Public Television stations throughout California. Additionally, he hosted "Movie Club with John Ridley" (2004) on AMC, a unique movie review program featuring a panel of critics.
Ridley's television credits include writing, directing, and producing the popular show "Barbershop" (2005),formerly aired on Showtime.
