John was born in Radford, Virginia, where he spent most of his youth in a rural setting. As he progressed through school, he pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering, which would serve as the foundation for his future endeavors.
After completing his education, John worked for Corning Incorporated at their locations in Blacksburg, Virginia, and Corning, New York. He also spent 13 months in Shanghai, China, working for the same company. This experience had a profound impact on his personality, shaping him into the character actor he would become.
Before embarking on his acting career, John gained valuable experience in the public sector, working in retail for 11 years. However, due to his struggles with diabetes, he left Corning in 2001 and turned his focus towards acting.
Initially, John's acting career was centered in the horror genre, where he gained numerous credits working with small independent film companies. As he continued to hone his craft, he began to explore other genres, including comedy and drama, which have been particularly rewarding.
John's fascination with modern and ancient weapons has also become a significant aspect of his movie resume. He has modified many of his firearms to fire blanks for film and has taken responsibility for ensuring the safety of actors on set when weapons are in use.
In addition to his work with weapons, John has also learned special effects and pyrotechnics, further expanding his range as an actor.
