John Dulaney was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA to Thomas J. and Betty Dulaney. His father owned ABCO, a leading manufacturer of aluminum windows and doors. John's early life was marked by a strong educational foundation, as he attended Harding High School in Oklahoma City, followed by Columbia College in Chicago and Columbia College in Los Angeles, California.
At the tender age of 19, John began his professional journey in the film industry, working in a Hollywood film lab where he honed his skills in editing, printing, and special effects. However, his true passion lay in directing, and he soon started directing short films. This marked the beginning of a successful career in filmmaking, which would take him to the other side of the world.
John's travels have been a defining feature of his life, with 24 years spent overseas and visits to 50 countries. During his travels, he has made numerous films in Europe and Asia, further solidifying his reputation as a talented filmmaker. In addition to his work in film, John is also a published author, having written two novels that are yet to be published. He is also a skilled composer and enjoys expressing his creativity through music.
After a brief hiatus, John returned to Hollywood in 1988-89, where he produced or co-produced several films, including the critically acclaimed short film "The Legend of the Emerald Princess" starring Charlotte Lewis, which was sold to Disney TV and won an award at the New York International Film Festival.
In 1993, John founded and ran one of the first 20 commercial web pages in history, Mind Logic, an internet mail-order company that sold audio/video electronics and computer software/hardware. This innovative venture showcased John's entrepreneurial spirit and ability to adapt to new technologies.
John is married to his wife, Maria, and they have two children, Chris and Jacqui. Despite his busy schedule, John prioritizes his family and enjoys spending time with his loved ones. Today, John resides in Los Angeles, where he has started acting again since May 7th, 2018, and continues to pursue his passions in filmmaking, writing, and music.
