Johnny McElhone, professionally known as Johnny, is the co-founder of the iconic Scottish pop rock band Texas, alongside the talented Sharleen Spiteri. As the primary songwriter, Johnny, along with Sharleen, pens the band's entire repertoire of songs, often collaborating with other artists to create their distinctive sound.

As the bassist of the group, Johnny's contributions to the band's rhythm section have been instrumental in shaping their unique musical identity. Throughout their illustrious career, Texas has released an impressive six studio albums, including "Southside" (1989),"Mothers Heaven" (1991),"Ricks Road" (1993),"White On Blonde" (1997),"The Hush" (1999),and "Greatest Hits" (2000).

The band's impressive discography boasts a plethora of hit singles, such as "Say What You Want", "Halo", "I Don't Want A Lover", "In Demand", "Inner Smile", and "So Called Friend". Texas also had the privilege of performing the theme song for the popular television show Ellen in 1994, which featured the same melody as their song "So Called Friend", but with distinct lyrics.
