Biography

John Kane, born David John Kane, emerged into the world in Dundee, Angus, Scotland, setting the stage for a life filled with drama and creativity.

In Glasgow, Kane pursued his passion for drama, enrolling in a program to hone his craft. However, his academic journey was cut short as he had secured a coveted spot in the prestigious Actors Studio of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

After seven illustrious years with the company, Kane made the bold decision to leave and embark on a new path. He leveraged his experience to craft two television series, one for BBC 1 and the other for BBC 2, both featuring the renowned comedic talent of Terry Scott.

For the next two decades, Kane continued to write for television, penning a diverse range of shows that catered to both adult and children's audiences. During this period, he also returned to the Royal Shakespeare Company for an additional twelve seasons, further solidifying his reputation as a masterful playwright.

As the years went by, Kane's impressive body of work earned him a well-deserved retirement in 2006. Today, he resides in the picturesque South of France with his wife, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility he has always cherished.
