Although initially enrolled in medicine and law programs, the individual ultimately chose to focus on the performing arts. In 1978, they graduated from the renowned National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) alongside notable peers Penny Cook and Robert Grubb.

Throughout their illustrious career, spanning over three decades, the individual has taken on leading roles in various stage productions from 1981 to 2012. Their impressive body of work has garnered significant recognition, including a Critics Circle award in 1992 for their outstanding performances in "The Crucible" and "Mongrels". They have also won the prestigious Variety Entertainer of the Year award on two occasions, in 1992 and 2006.
