Personal Details

Biography

John Bowler's life journey began in London, where he was born to a Cockney father and an Anglo-Indian mother. His early years were marked by a move to Newcastle-on-Tyne, where he spent his formative years in the Gosforth area, a place where he would later convincingly portray a native in television programs such as Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, leading many to assume that he is a 'Geordie' himself.

John was not alone in his childhood, as he shared his upbringing with his sister and three brothers. This family of five was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship from the Northumberland Education Authority, allowing them to attend Ackworth School, a prestigious Quaker co-ed boarding school located near Wakefield in Yorkshire. It was during his time at Ackworth that John developed a profound passion for the Performing Arts, a passion that would only continue to grow as he navigated his educational and professional path.

After completing his secondary education, John went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, also known as the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, in Glasgow. He spent three years honing his craft at this esteemed institution, laying the foundation for a successful career in the performing arts.

As an actor, John has had the opportunity to play a wide range of characters across all media platforms. His impressive resume is not limited to acting alone, however, as he has also ventured into the world of writing, penning scripts and sketches for film, radio, and television. For nine years, John collaborated with television director Rick Platt, writing and performing stand-up comedy routines that showcased his impressive wit and comedic timing.

John is married to the talented actress, director, and artist Judi Lamb, with whom he shares two children.
