John Bloom, a multifaceted individual, has made a name for himself as an investigative reporter, essayist, and actor. Born in Dallas, Texas, he spent his formative years in Little Rock, Arkansas, before pursuing higher education at Vanderbilt University, where he earned a sports-writing scholarship.
Bloom's writing career began in Texas, garnering two National Magazine Award nominations for his outstanding work with Texas Monthly. However, his tenure at the Dallas Times-Herald was cut short when he was fired for writing, under the pseudonym "Joe Bob Briggs," a humorous parody of the popular song "We Are The World."
Undeterred, Bloom transitioned to television, initially hosting Joe Bob's Drive-In Theater on The Movie Channel in 1987. The show proved to be a massive success, running for nine years and earning two ACE award nominations. Its popularity made it TMC's highest-rated program.
Currently, Bloom can be seen hosting Monstervision on TNT every Saturday night. Furthermore, he is actively working on an autobiographical screenplay, which is sure to provide a fascinating glimpse into his life and experiences.
