John Andreas embarked on a cinematic journey, commencing with the creation of short films on Super8, which culminated in a national film competition win at the tender age of 15. This remarkable achievement served as a catalyst, propelling him to pursue his passion for filmmaking and visual storytelling.
Prior to enrolling in film school, John Andreas diligently worked his way up the ranks in the camera department, including serving as an assistant camera operator for the renowned Swedish cinematographer, Sven Nykvist, ASC, who had won two Oscars. Sven's endorsement secured John Andreas' admission to the MFA program at the prestigious American Film Institute (AFI),where he graduated in 1998.
John Andreas continued to hone his craft as a Director of Photography on numerous award-winning features, including "Headhunters" (Morten Tyldum, 2011) and "King of Devil's Island" (Marius Holst, 2010). Eventually, he transitioned to the director's chair, having initially shot the first episodes before directing the season finale of the Netflix series "Occupied" (2015). His feature film directing debut was marked by "The Quake" (2018).
