Johanna's early life was shaped by her hippie upbringing in rural Florida, far removed from the glamour of Hollywood. Despite this, she was drawn to the performing arts from a young age, insisting on taking acting, singing, and dancing lessons from elementary school onwards. Her first theatrical appearance was at the tender age of seven.
As she entered her teenage years, Johanna's talent was spotted and she was cast in the PBS film Catherine's Story. This marked the beginning of her journey as a model and actress, with roles in both New York and Los Angeles.
Johanna's big break in Hollywood came when she landed a part in the TV series Cold Case, following a second professional audition. She went on to appear in CSI: Miami, Star Trek Enterprise, and a string of independent films.
In addition to her screen work, Johanna remains passionate about the stage, drawn to strong, heroic women who defy convention. She has played an impressive number of women in disguise, as well as traditionally male roles in Shakespeare productions.
Johanna's passion for performance is matched only by her desire to make a positive impact on the world. Her personal battle with a rare form of cancer in her early teens left a lasting impression on her, and she has since dedicated much of her time to helping children. Today, she works extensively with the non-profit organization Inside Out Community Arts.
