Joe Starr was born on December 31st, 1969, in the vibrant city of Brooklyn, New York. As a young man, he pursued his passion for acting by studying at the prestigious J. Beckson Studios in NYC, simultaneously honing his skills as a professional stand-up comedian by touring the United States, Canada, and Europe.
It was his recurring role on the Comedy Central show "Important Things with Demitri Martin" that caught the attention of some of the biggest casting directors in New York, marking a significant turning point in his career. Soon, Joe found himself guest starring on major network shows such as "Gotham," "Blue Bloods," and "Bull," as well as acting in prominent motion pictures like "The Adventures of Tintin," "Chuck," and "Date Night."
Throughout his career, Joe has had the privilege of working alongside renowned actors and directors, including Liev Schreiber, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Oliver Stone, Peter Jackson, and Steven Spielberg. His recent portrayal of "Enzo" on CBS's hit show "Kevin Can Wait" received widespread critical acclaim.
Born into a family with a rich history in show business, Joe is the grandson of vaudeville dancer Wally Valez. Growing up, he learned to use his body for comedy instead of dance, and his lifelong study of the history and traditions of show business has made him a sought-after guest on podcasts about the industry and a popular speaker for stand-up comedy classes and acting seminars.
At his core, Joe is an old soul, and it was none other than comedy legend Jerry Lewis who bestowed upon him the title of "The youngest old man in Show Business."
