Biography

Joe, a talented cinematographer and occasional director, hails from Hamilton, New Zealand, where he earned his degree in screen and media studies from The University of Waikato in 2004. Following his graduation, he kickstarted his career as a camera operator and lighting technician for community television and local theatre.

In 2005, Joe showcased his student stop-motion short film, Kismet (2004),at the prestigious Screamfest Film Festival in Los Angeles. The experience gained at the festival served as a catalyst for the creation of Down by the Riverside (2007),a low-budget noir-horror feature, which premiered at the B-Movie Film Festival.

Joe's technical expertise in film production was further honed through his work on several notable projects, including The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) and Avatar (2009). He then transitioned to freelancing as a Director of Photography on music videos, commercials, and documentaries.

During his downtime between projects, Joe received an AMP Scholarship, which enabled him to bring his unique vision to life by animating The North Pole Deception (2010). The film premiered at the Fantastic Planet Film Festival in 2010 and received rave reviews during its tour of New Zealand, including a showcase at the Show Me Shorts Film Festival.
