Joe Castro, a multifaceted creative force, was born in San Antonio, Texas, and began his illustrious career in the film industry at the tender age of 15.
He started by creating special effects make-up for a PBS affiliate, and his talent soon caught the attention of his parents, who invested in his future by purchasing a portable VHS camera.
As his skills continued to evolve, Joe won the National special effects make-up contest in Monsterland magazine in 1985. This achievement was followed by his relocation to Los Angeles, California, where he further honed his craft.
In 1993, Joe made his directorial debut with the feature film CEREMONY, an apocalyptic horror thriller shot on 35mm Panavision. The film earned a Silver Award at the Worldfest Charleston Film Festival.
Joe's subsequent projects included producing his second Internationally distributed feature film, Legend of the Chupacabra, on his parent's ranch in 1997.
In 2001, he produced, directed, and created the special effects for the wildly successful cult film, TERROR TOONS, which has already spawned four sequels.
Lionsgate distributed Joe's 7th feature, THE JACKHAMMER MASSACRE, in 1994.
In 2011, Joe released his multi-award winning film, THE SUMMER OF MASSACRE, which won him the Guinness Book Of World Record for "Highest body count in a Slasher film," with an impressive 155 kills.
Throughout his career, Joe has accumulated over 46 awards for his work in producing, directing, and creating special effects.
In collaboration with his partner, Steven Escobar, Joe has produced, written, and directed 16 feature films.
